CatchUp

CatchUp is an artist who definitely counts the last few years as successful. His great vocal potential and original style of rapping - as well as his unconventional approach to music production - have been noticed by both leading representatives of the hip-hop scene (double feat on Taco Hemingway's “Jarmark”, hit beats for Gedz) and opinion-forming music media (the Newonce website called CatchUp one of the most interesting newcomers).

The School of Modern Music graduate also has to his credit a brilliant (and to his credit double) participation in the Hot16Challenge2, where he performed both as CatchUp, and also as Tom Schklaneck, known for his record-breaking TikTok profile. Among other things the video for “Danse Macabre,” released in late May 2020, has already scored more than 9 million views on streaming services.

The debut solo album “Peripheries,” released on August 20, 2021 via the 2020 label, is a polished project in every sense. It was promoted by popular singles tracks: “A Few Days,” ‘Tik Tok,’ ‘Weird Flex,’ ‘Trouble’ and ”Few.” Among the guests on the album were Kaz Bałagane, Young Igi, Gedz and schafter.

An important episode in the artist's work was his collaboration on the club2020 album, bringing together the biggest stars of Polish hip-hop. The 2020 label's flagship project also featured: Taco Hemingway, PRO8L3M, OKI, Otsochodzi, Young Igi, Young Leosia, Gruby Mielzky, Dwa Sławy, Łajzol, schafter, DZIARMA, Avi, Margaret, HAŁASTRA, Kukon, Miły ATZ, Szczyl and Pers. The fruit of a joint recording session in Gdańsk became a diverse and multifaceted album, showing a full stylistic cross-section of contemporary rap. From hit singles and club bangers; through classically hip-hop cyphers; to multi-threaded, reflective songs that cannot be locked into a single convention. And all this in the spirit of surprising artistic exchanges and collaborations, where artists representing different trends and musical styles meet at every step. club2020 was released exactly on March 10, 2023.

A year later, “Kuku na muniu”, which is CatchUp's second studio album, is released to listeners. This album is a completely new installment of the musical journey of the singer, rapper and producer in one person. The material was mostly produced by CatchUp himself, but there are also tracks that were helped by friendly artists Michelangelo, Frank Leen, Prometh, Karbid and Pieruun.

The result of this work is an album that is eclectic, but nevertheless dominated by atmospheric sounds. With lyrics that accurately reflect the current life of this versatile artist. A bit of humor, a pinch of complaining, a bit of hedonism, a bit of falling in love. Life itself. The album was released on April 19, 2024, and is, of course, published by 2020 label.
